I feel privileged that I was able to be there on the front lines of Afghanistan and Iraq. It means a lot to me that I was there, because I feel like it was at a very important time in history. Journalists provided a very important role for the public, in the sense that at the beginning of the insurgency in Iraq — when things started to go wrong in Iraq — it was really the fact that journalists were there to document all those things. I think it was very, very important, especially for the American public, to understand what happened there.
