Billie Jean King: I’d already read books, and I love books, I love history, so I knew that tennis was global, that it was played all over the world. And I knew the men and the women both played, which I really liked. I didn’t like, you know — sports are usually just for a guy, or certain sports are maybe for a girl. I don’t like that. I like the fact that tennis had both men and women; that was very important to me. And I was off on my adventure, but I read everything I could get my hands on.
